Hours of fun (OK, perhaps really minutes) to be had over at the Polaroid-o-nizer. The above image is what it did to this picture. If you’re that way inclined, there’s a copy of the php script that does this for your own use.

Cracks in the Pavement
Now this sounds rather cool:
Cracks in the Pavement: Gifts in the Urban Landscape is a multi-phased, interactive project that calls attention to the “in-between” spaces encountered throughout everyday life. The project focuses on details within the urban landscape and encourages close inspection of our social space. This summer, artists based in locations around the world will respond to what they find in their urban environments by making art objects designed to be placed in sites that intrigue them—-at bus shelters, in alleys, under bridges, in libraries or post offices, or deep in park bushes. Members of the public are invited to search for these site-specific works using maps and clues provided at www.cracksinthepavement.com. Art works featured in Cracks in the Pavement may be kept by whoever finds them. Works not found will be allowed to remain in the landscape indefinitely to be encountered by chance, displaced, or transformed by the very environmental forces that define each piece’s context.
The installations are mainly in the US, but there’ll be a couple in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne, including a couple of sound works by Sofie. Apparently things kick off June 5th with instructions for finding the location of the works getting posted up on the Cracks in the Pavement site.

One of these days I swear I’m going to learn some Cantonese so I can understand my Great Uncle who always talks to me in Cantonese (he speaks about as much English as I do Cantonese). Recently he said to Rozie “can he speak Cantonese?” C’mon, couldn’t he figure it out from the fact that I never manage to say anything back and that Rozie always has to translate for me. Although sometimes she forgets and she just lets everyone talk Cantonese at me, all the while I just umm and ahh like a moron. Thanks honey! 😛

Outer Rim server moments
So my Outer Rim server is moving locations/IP address. So if your trying to get to Bec’s, Joanne’s or perhaps Melody’s blogs, Rozie’s photos and some other sites that I host at the moment, you might get re-directed to Planet Grep. Sorry about that. I messed up some DNS records. Once the corrected DNS records get propagated you’ll be able to get to them again. Apparently this new server is quicker than the previous one (its seems to be a little bit quicker).
I’ve also moved the URL of my blog to http://daveg.outer-rim.org/. Its still accessable from the Dorja for the forseeable future, so no need to go changing those bookmarks yet. I just hope the change in URL doesn’t effect the Google-love this blog seems to currently enjoy.
